Start with a purpose

What does your team need to work through?

Every retreat starts with a purpose. Yours might be to develop your strategy, prepare for change, learn from experience or bring your team together around shared priorities.

How we work

  1. Chart your direction

Develop or refresh your strategy, explore the choices ahead and agree where to focus.

  2. Review and learn

Reflect on achievements, challenges and lessons that should shape what comes next.

  3. Strengthen alignment

Build a shared understanding of your priorities, values and how to put them into practice.

  4. Move toward action

Turn ideas and decisions into practical next steps, with clear ownership.

From preparation to follow-through

Designed around the
work you need to do.

We work closely with you to shape a retreat around your objectives, your people and the decisions ahead.

Preparation & design

We review relevant background materials and work with your team to clarify the purpose, questions and expected outputs. From there, we develop an agenda that gives each discussion the time and approach it needs.

Facilitation that involves your team

We combine focused discussion, small-group work, reflection and interactive activities to bring different perspectives into the room. Our facilitators help participants explore ideas, work through differences and reach useful conclusions.

Reporting support

We can bring together the key discussions, completed canvases, agreed priorities, decisions and next steps in a clear retreat report. This gives your team a practical record to share, revisit and use as the work continues.

The Katalyst approach

Tools that make
thinking visible.

Our canvases are a distinctive part of the Katalyst approach.

We develop and adapt canvases, discussion prompts and workshop tools around the questions your team needs to answer. They give participants a shared space to explore possibilities, compare perspectives, make connections and capture their thinking.

From imagining a future vision to weighing priorities, each tool helps move the conversation toward a useful output. Completed canvases also provide a foundation for reporting and follow-through.

CARE LAOS

Shaping the next
five-year strategy.

With a new global strategy in place, CARE Laos was developing its country strategy for the next five years. Katalyst designed and facilitated a two-day workshop to help the team identify the program priorities and strategic approaches that would shape that direction.

The work brought CARE’s global ambitions into conversation with the Lao context, helping the team explore where to focus and how to approach the work ahead. Custom discussion canvases supported that thinking, with reporting support to capture priorities, approaches and next steps for the country strategy.

UNICEF LAOS

Reflecting on 50 years.
Looking ahead to
the next 50.

To mark UNICEF’s first 50 years in Laos, Katalyst facilitated a three-day retreat bringing together 100 colleagues in Luang Prabang to reflect on their achievements and consider the future ahead.

Shared memories, group discussions and custom canvases helped participants explore the changing context for their work, review priorities and agree how they could work better together. The retreat culminated in the Luang Prabang Declaration, capturing shared commitments for the organization’s next chapter.
